I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Hey, everyone. I've decided to close commissions for the time being, as I'm really busy with the horrible pit of despair that is junior year and I frankly can't handle any more work. I also want to take time to think about revised prices/conditions. Hopefully, I'll be able to open them up again by this summer.

Yes, that's right, the lovely ~Purpllamas is taking point commissions. Not that anyone cares. But seriously, 80 is a dollar so they're disgustingly cheap.

I'll try to keep it simple this time:

TRADITIONAL:

drawing — 160-240

painting — 240

DIGITAL:

simple colored sketch — 80

digital art — 160-560

<— photo references are appreciated and help me a lot if you are looking for something like this—just for placing shadows and the pose, doesn't have to reflect facial structure perfectly

(I've combined my basic digital art and realism/semi-realism categories because I'm finding that they are beginning to mix a bit. I can still do cell-shading and the like. Please note I will typically go for headshots or waist-ups for digital art unless otherwise specified. And for realism/semi-realism I will only do headshots or waist-ups.)

PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMISSIONING:

-be as specific as possible, unless you want me to guess and take liberties
-if you are looking for a specific style, specify it, or else I'll pick one on a whim, depending on what my current influence is, as I don't really have a style (I am not limited to the ones shown here)
-adding on to the last point, please don't assume the styles under each category are the styles "for that category"
-if you specify a certain background, I will probably take it into account; otherwise, I can't guarantee one
-expect a long wait, being that I am a lazy procrastinator, though not necessarily
-no mature content, and I reserve the right to refuse anything, so please note/comment me before paying
-there are certain things I'm not particularly good at drawing, so please check my gallery or ask me beforehand
